Brenda Blake, MS, LCAC.
Summary of Experience:
Ms. Blake has been an employee of Hamilton Center, INC for over 15 years with over 13 years in the field of addictions. She is currently a Therapist at the Vigo County Outpatient Services. Following her BSW, Ms. Blake became a counselor's aid in Bartow Florida where she worked with adolescent alcohol and drug abusers. Upon moving back to Indiana, she raised 5 children while working on a small farm. At that time, she contracted with Vigo County Department of Child Services as an intensive case worker where she provided home based family counseling for abused and neglected children teaching basic parenting skills. In 1998 Ms. Blake was hired as a case manager for Hamilton Center, INC in which she helped maintain chronically mentally ill clients in the community by accessing and utilizing community resources. She became an addictions counselor in 2000, where she completed assessments, orientations, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, referrals, training and program development. Ms. Blake has worked in the jails, with parole clientele, self referrals, and has a special interest in working with substance abusers involved with the Department of Child Services (DCS). She has been a member of the Vigo County Methamphetamine Task Force and helped with the planning and implementation of the Vigo County Family Drug Court and Collaborative Family Treatment Program. She has been a Prime for Life instructor in conjunction with Vigo County Alcohol and Drugs Services. Ms. Blake as facilitated an all women's issues relapse prevention group, a dual diagnosis group, and Matrix intensive outpatient group, conducts individual therapy and full clinical assessments.
She provides workshops for referral sources, inservice training and meets regularly with other Hamilton Center offices to coordinate care for DCS. She is a member of the Learning Panel, the Trauma Informed Champion Team and advises the Trauma Informed Care Consumer Driven Committee.
