Program Technician
Division: Client Support Services (CSS)

With supervision, this person will assist in provision of supervision, training and treatment of developmentally disabled and/or aged and disabled individuals in a day service or waiver program.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities |

- With supervision, this person will assist in provision of supervision, training in a day service, home based, or community based program
- With supervision, plans, organizes, prepares, and implements various outings, activities, and events for participants
- Assist in maintenance of client and program records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. The preparation of intervention reports is required and must be completed according to acceptable time-lines as well as standards of length, accuracy, thoroughness, and language usage.
- Interacts with clients in a responsible manner: e.g. individualized, positive, age-appropriate, reciprocal, constructive non-authoritarian, and non-confrontive; engages in constructive conversation and positive social interactions while the program is in operation
- Maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, relationships, and associations with participants
- Interacts appropriately with all visitors, family members, and other service providers
- Conducts all events, activities, and outings in a safe manner, and employ effective measures regarding risk management, and emergency procedures
- Participates in continuing education activities to maintain knowledge and skills in area related to the focus of the program
- Attends and participates fully in meetings as assigned and meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision
- Assists with inventory and general maintenance of supplies, facilities, and equipment
- Maintains a clean and aesthetically pleasing facility
- Completes indirect tasks as assigned by supervisor including assisting with quality assurance activities record keeping, report writing, logging, and completing forms
- Assists in handling of crisis and emergency situations involving participants
- Transports participants safely and effectively either by drivingCenter-owned vehicles or by using own vehicle
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements |
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good observation and decision making skills
- Experience in implementing group activities and outings is helpful
- Agreement to use personal transportation in work capacity
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations |
- Maintains a valid Chauffeur’s license in accordance with MVL policy
- Maintains current American Red Cross CPR/1st Aid certification

- Stands for long periods of time
- Drives for extended periods of time in all types of weather
- Assists clients in wheelchairs
- Assists clients walking to and from activities
- Lifts and carries up to 50 pounds
- Safely loads and unloads consumers from vans
- Participates in group activities/yard games
- Staff works in a day service or waiver program with limited supervision.
- Many program activities are conducted in community settings away from Hamilton Center, Inc. premises.
- Work conditions, such as cleanliness, comfort and safety, may vary widely.
- Exposure to all types of weather elements is likely.
- Staff may be scheduled to work evenings and/or weekends.
- Lunch and break times may be adjusted to adapt to the program schedule and to insure adequate participant supervision.
- Safety management and crisis intervention decisions and actions are dependent on staff present and/or outside emergency services.
- Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks
- Completion of a pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use
- Completion of tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to first work day of employment and annually thereafter
- Completion of Center-wide new employee orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting for work
- Completion of HCI’s Commitment to Quality training.
- Attendance at all mandatory staff development & training
- Successful completion of a six month on the job orientation period
- Participation in payroll electronic deposit
- Adherence to Compliance Program Plan
